Meeting began at 7:50 PM

Board Members present:  Mike Norton, Kristen Schwind, Michael Hallee, Joel Kirk, Justin Camuto, Rick Page, and Beth Frey

Registrar’s report (by Kristen Schwind):

Kristin requested that Beth send her the rosters for Taylor Metcalf to make certain they met the USA hockey requirements.

Taylor Metcalf fund report (by Beth Frey):

Beth provided the board with the current balance for the fund. 

This year’s Metcalf tournament will be made up of the following teams:

14U – 6 teams

12U – 4 teams

10U – 6 teams

Beth informed the board as to all the current sponsors and raffle baskets for the tournament

Beth also informed the board how the raffles will work with the special golden tickets, etc.

It was noted that snacks & diet coke will be required for the time clock and score keepers

Directors Report by Mike Norton/New Business:

We had an issue with 2 players who got game misconducts but did not sit out the next game as required by USA hockey and this has now been reported to USA hockey.

We will let coaches know that if they have a game misconduct to a MYH player then the coach will be required to report that directly to Mike Norton and Kristin Schwind.

Anytime a player is assessed a game misconduct the USA hockey rules mandate that player MUST sit out the next game no matter whether the game is a tournament.

In addition, it was discussed that some leagues have their own rules which require that the player receiving the game misconduct sit out the next league game even if it is not the next game so coaches need to be aware of those situations because the player may be required to actually sit out two games (one non-league and one league) to comply with both USA Hockey and the respective league rules.

Tryout Training Camp begins March 28^th, 2018

MYH Tryouts for 2018-2019 season is on April 21& 22^nd 2018 with a make-up date April 29, 2018.

Beginner Hockey sessions started June 15, 2018 for Session 5

Hockey Weekend Across America March 2-4^th 2018 at the Goggin was a huge success 33 kids participated in our try hockey for free event

Dan Sens/Taylor Metcalf Fund Metcalf Memorial Golf Tournament is set for July 21, 2018

  Jr. RedHawks Day at the Miami Hockey game – Sunday December 30, 2018. $5.00 admission to players U12 and under. $10.00 ticket for all Miami Youth Hockey parents and family members (no limit). $5.00 ticket for non-perishable food item.
  Miami University Club Hockey Showcase: January 11-13, 2019 (6 D2 and 6 D3 teams)
  Big Bear Tournament (MLK Weekend) – January 18-21, 2019
  Jr. Brotherhood Day at Goggin Ice Center – Sunday January 27, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

• Jr. RedHawks Beginner Session 3
  Began Tuesday December 4, 2018 (32 players currently enrolled in the program)
  Moved 2 Beginner players to Mite House League – Mites are currently at 42 players
  Squirt House League – Squirts are currently at 36 players

• Miami Youth Hockey Jr. Brotherhood Program
  Is going very well so far. Players and Coaches are enjoying interacting with the Miami University Varsity players.
